Mineral: | Phenakite | Chemical Formula: | Be2SiO4 | Size: | | Weight: | | Transparence: | transparent - translucent | Quantity: | | Origin: | Panthahole mine, close to Mt.Gaba Ant Bwe Taung (Ant Pywe Taung), northeast of Mogok, Molo quarter, Momeik Township, Burma (Myanmar) | Well this is a very big phenakite crystal with a good shape and termination. The crystal is doubly terminated and was lateral connected to its matrix. There are only two very small cleavage areas, but apart from this there is no damage. The termination shows the typical twinning notch and the prism faces revealing the twinning lines, crystal striation and fine luster. The upper part has partly gemmy transparency. This specimen is very rare due to its fine shape and the tremendous size. A real treasure with a weight over 115ct!!
